Sjiem Fat & Mahabir was founded in 1999 in Paramaribo, Suriname by Mrs. Myra V.O. Sjiem Fat and Mr. Ram Mahabir. This firm emerged from Dr. Paul V. Sjiem Fat Law Offices.
Dr. Paul V. Sjiem Fat practiced law in Aruba and the Netherlands Antilles, since he became a lawyer in 1950. In 1990, he started his Trademark firm in Suriname.
After retiring in 1999, his clients were assigned to Sjiem Fat & Mahabir Trademark Consultants N.V. This was an extensive operation due to the transfer of numerous files.
Since its establishment, Sjiem Fat & Mahabir has developed into a respectful and great firm.
In 2004, Mr. Chander S. Mahabir joined Sjiem Fat & Mahabir. Mr. Mahabir is a member of the International Trademark Association.
Benelux Trademarks
Sjiem Fat & Mahabir offers direct trademark filings in the Benelux (Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxembourg).
The three countries are separate jurisdictions, but must be considered one jurisdiction for the purpose of trademarks. The Benelux is part of the European Union.
